Keswick, English Lakes, Day Tour

Nestling between the Skiddaw Mountains and Derwentwater, one of England's most beautiful lakes in the heart of the Lake District, Keswick, with its wide variety of shops, cafes, tea and coffee rooms, pubs and restaurants, is a most popular holiday and day trip destination.

To cater for the needs of tourists, visitors and holidaymakers alike there are shops selling outdoor clothing and equipment, collectables and antiques, local stone crafts and art in its various forms. There are also the ‘necessary’ shops such as chemists, bakers, confectioners, stationers and a supermarket.

There is a variety of unusual visitor attractions in the town. In the Cumberland Pencil Museum discover the story of the famous Derwent Pencils and the World's largest pencil. Cars of the Stars Museum is a world famous collection of vehicles from film and television including the Batmobile, the James Bond Collection, the Trotters’ Reliant van and Mr Bean’s mini. The Teapottery makes displays and sells weird and wonderful designs of teapots cast and decorated entirely by hand. The Puzzling Place is an exhibition area and shop containing a unique collection of holograms and optical illusions including the famous 'Anti-gravity' room

Depart from Ayr 08:00, Prestwick 08:10, Troon 08:20, Irvine 08:35 and Kilmarnock 08:50 and travel via Darvel to M74 to arrive Gretna 11:00. Depart Gretna 11:45 and continue to Keswick for 13:00. Depart Keswick at 15:30 and travel via Cockermouth and Carlisle to Moffat for 17:00. Depart Moffat 18:00 return to Kilmarnock 20:00, Ayr 21:00
